Zonta International District 13

The District Conference was held in Akureyri, Iceland  on the 8-11 of September 2011.The venue was Hof, Cultural and Conference Centre which is in its first year of operation. Ragnheiður Hansdóttir the Districts Govenor opened the conference and her opening speach can be read here.  Read more

I went to Trondheim the first weekend in February to attend their leadermeeting. It was a great pleasure for me and also very informative and interesting. I stayed with Randi Nymann Lium the Area Director in Norway in her beautiful house up in the hills in Trondheim.

I arrived on Friday the 4th of February after a nice journey from Iceland. In the evening Randi invited all participants in the meeting for a dinner at her house. Her husband cooked Stroganoff and he is certainly a very good cook. We had the opportunity to talk to each other and learn about each others private life and  Zontalife and that evening was an enjoyable start of this meeting.

Dianne Curtis, President of Zonta International was awarded the Minerva Award on November 15th 2010 in the Hall of the Capitol in Rome Italy. Dianne Curtis a native of Santa Clarita California US and is the first American to receive the prestigious Minerva Award.

Established in 1983 by Anna Maria Mammoliti President of Club II dellee Donne (Womens club) the Minerva is awarded annually to remarkeble women working in the fields of Entrepreneurship and Management, Scientific Research, Arts, Literary and Social Committment.

Dianne expressed her delight upon accepting the Minerva Award. She promised that Zonta International would continue to prevent violence end improve the lives of women throughout the world.

Due to good financial standing of District 13 it was possible to subsidize the attending of four young Zontians at the Zonta International Convention in San Antonio in Texas last summer. The recipients were from the four countries in the district and they received DKR 10.000.- each.
